Based on the death of bank robber John Dillinger -- gunned down by lawmen outside the Biograph Theater in Chicago in 1934. He had been betrayed by his girlfriend's friend, brothel madam Anna Sage, who wore an orange dress to tip off the FBI.
The day was July 22.
The movie Dillinger had just seen was 'Manhattan Melodrama' -- a gangster picture.
Beautiful art deco marquee. Thanks for the quick history lesson too. I like the concept and design, but I don't know if I'd wanna wear those colors on a shirt. The bright saturated colors printed on brown read as kind of cheap to me. Maybe that's just me though, I'm no fashion editor or anything.
Nice twist on the sex and death theme, original and relevant. Great job on the design and I love the Deco treatment which is so pertinent because Dillinger got whacked when all that Deco architecture was going up in Chicago and NYC. $5
