While this idea could be good, as is, it lacks sublety and cleverness, instead resorting to bludgeoning one about the head with its particular ideology. Knock up the cleverness of the design a notch or two (while maintaining the simplicity...thats right...subtle AND simple, since simplicity is the design's strong point) and you've got a good shirt.

At very first glance, I thought it was a boy and girl. Where you messed up, though, was trying to say the Bible doesn't reference homosexuality (and maybe you only meant that where Sodom was concerned). And so the story of Sodom and Gomorrah might not say it specifically but check out Romans 1, verses 18-32 (pretty clear)...for those that believe in this one particular God, homosexuality is wrong and it is clearly defined in The Bible which is what Christians believe is the infallible Word of God.

I'm not pushing that belief on anyone. I'm simply backing up my beliefs with reasons why I believe them. 13strong can't or at least didn't. He just took the fact that I'm a Christian and then went on a stereotyping rampage that was really sad but all too common.

I was about to write a whole screed in response, because your abusive, accusatory little rant got me a bit riled up. I started to respond, giving my rationally argued response, and then thought "Why am I bothering?". It's really not worth dragging this on any longer.

But I would say that at no point did I stereotype you. You are a Christian, no? You have a variation of the Christian Ichthys tattooed on your neck. You're involved in the NewSpring Church (this is all through your Flickr, by the way - wasn't trying to pry, just get some sense of where you were coming from). You talk about homosexuality being a "way of life" and an "act", which implies that you think it's not an inherent part of someone's biological make-up; that it can be denied. And you say that your belief that homosexuality is wrong is based on the Bible and the "Word of God". So in what way have I misrepresented you?

To believe these things is, in my opinion, to be ignorant of the reality of homosexuality, and to prioritise the words in a book over the words and lives of actual homosexuals.

But like I said, I shouldn't have started this, because I know how futile it is. I wasn't driven to argue with you about this out of a hatred for you or even your beliefs as such, but out of a personal commitment to people's rights that I often take too far (as in, I waste my time doing things like this when I could be using my energy for something more productive).

And please know that I'm not really as ignorant (as you may think) to homosexuality on many levels. I have plenty (not exaggerating for argument/thread sake) gay and lesbian friends and acquaintances. Some really close that I love dearly. My parents totally disagree with me as well and have lots more friends and contacts in that community. My mom designed a whole marketing design/logo for a gay club in the city they used to live in. I've done a little bit of research on the "naturalness" of homosexuality. I've had open hearted & open minded conversations with the friends mentioned earlier.

And still...

For me, I just don't see it as "something you are born with." That is my opinion. I know that there are examples in the animal world (that are also the minority in their species), I know there are points to be made such as transsexuals, hermaphrodites and other birthed genetics that can sway the debate, I recognize that a lot of my belief (not all) is due to my Christian morals and that that puts the argument in a weird space for anyone who doesn't believe the way I do...but for me, I do consider it a way of life that is chosen. I just don't see DNA determining your sexual preference.

We're not gonna solve this on a T-Shirt judging thread or anywhere else. Its just not gonna happen. I just wish we as a society were more open and tolerant to those who believe differently than we do. I'm all for judging the act not the person. And I don't say that to mean that gay people are ok, they're just wrong. I simply mean that I love gay people as much as I love all people. I am very confused about the sodom and gomorrah reference, because although it is famously reserved to bash gays the actual passage seems to be about being a welcoming host and not allowing angry hoards to rape your guests, but giving them your daughters to rape instead.

And if you want to get into Leviticus, it does say that men shouldn't lay down with men, but it also says not to cut your hair or wear mixed fibers. I'm not sure the bible is a place anyone should really go for advice.

Gay rights are something I feel very strongly about, and so I realise I can come off as too intense or aggressive when talking about it. Sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable. I can see that you're not a completely ignorant "bible-basher", and it sounds like you recognise most of the complexities inherent in the debate around homosexuality, religion and rights.

I think we can both agree, though, that as long as the Bible is the final word for you, and as long as it isn't for me, then we're not gonna agree on the fundamentals. But it sounds like we can both agree that people like BrobAZ aren't helping no one none.
