Just an illustration derived from this story:



As the old man walked down a Spanish beach at dawn, he saw ahead of him what he thought to be a dancer. The young man was running across the sand, rhythmically bending down to pick up a stranded starfish and throw it far into the sea.



The old man gazed in wonder as the young soul again and again threw the small starfish from the sand into the water. The old man approached him and asked why he spent so much energy doing what seemed a waste of time. The young man explained that the stranded starfish would die if left until the morning sun.



"But there are thousands of miles of beach, and miles and miles of starfish. How can your effort make any difference?"



The young man looked down at the small starfish in his hand, and as he threw it to safety in the sea, said, "It makes a difference to this one!"

that story is nice but the lines on his face are distracting

I agree with chelly. The lines on his face are distracting me too. I'm all for watercolor illustrations in general and I like this design. Its got a lot of personality. I just think it would look better in terms of t-shirt art as a cleaned up photoshop art or vectorized design.

it looks vectored already.. i don't see watercolour paints here.

This is the same story on thats on the back of goldfish packages.

Good, identifiable story association. Face lines have to go of course, but I like the rest of the design. Cartoonish, but not too far out. But I can't decide on a placement. I think the lower style is being overused, so I just don't know.

yeah, story doesn't have to be identified with the artwork :D just thought is a nice story to share

I love it! I did this same thing with jellyfish when I was little. Frantically filling up my bucket and dumping them back in the ocean. There were so many and the tide was still going out...I was in tears. That's when I learned that you can't help everything, just do the best you can.

One, I love your name and I'm glad that you quit smoking.

Two, I love that this t-shirt has a classic story that almost everybody knows. Even if the viewer doesn't know it, the wearer can explain it to them.

Three, the illustration is just kick butt man.

And Four, usually if I had it my way every t-shirt in the world have alternative placement. But the middle placement for this shirt is rockin.

bottom placement

I like it on the bottom better, and maybe on a colored shirt? I've got so many on white it's getting old. :)
