you are correct it was shareef. this is kind of a self-deprecating play because i always butchered the lyrics. frick, actually the illo is based off of elvis, back in the jailhouse rock days. which was to reference our own cultures silly view back in the 50s of him shaking his hips as being too risque. but i can totally see the michael pose now that you mention it. and in fact looks more like michael than elvis lol. a sword is a good idea, or even a rock might be a humorous reference to the "get with the times" theme.

oh, and thnx everyone for the compliments and negative feedback as well. as if you couldnt tell by my constant rambling replies on here, i drive my wife nuts at home with these topics. so this is a very good outlet for me! :)

offensive i can understand. ignorant i disagree.
now with that said, if youre saying that this picture is representative of ALL Muslims then i believe you need to take notice of the headband. there is a reason i put a known terrorist groups logo on it and did not just leave him in traditional every day middle eastern dress to represent everybody. now that would have been ignorant. i am catholic, and when the priest/molesting issues were going on, believe me, i heard a lot of offensive jokes etc. however, i wouldnt ever call them ignorant, because quite frankly, i think they were justified.

not a bad idea at all on strummer.
though it does look a lot like michael, the figure is elvis which represents the view of our culture back in the 1950's. at that particular time, a lot of people viewed his gyrating dance style as very vulgar. and i made an assumption that some aspects of Islam might share similar views today, like we did then.
