This design can be printed either straight from the original 2-photo image and printed in a 4-color process (realistic) plus the foil on the camera body, or as I have it above, which has sort of a psychedelic filter added to it to make it a little more "spot color" with trippier colors. I wanted to go with this photographic quality to make it a little more real and therefore creepier than a sketchy, drawn look would give...
Nothing like having your own tri-pod built in, and "not knowing before-"hand" what you've captured" considering the "hand"-some creature has no eyes for aiming for composition...
Enjoy!

maybe you didn't hit the right buttons.

It's not a bad idea, it's just a bit literally rough around the edges...the thick black lines need to be cleaned off around the image, but you combined the hands in a very convincing manner to make an Adams Family-styled Thing for the photo generation!

painful photoshop work there. It looks like it was cut out of a newspaper.

Thanks 'ota'!
Thanks 'Frickinawesome'!

...actually it's rough b/c it is merely the concept. If it were to have been picked then it would have been cleaned up considerably for the final product... Glad I didn't spend the extra time on it now based on the unjustifiably harsh critics here at Threadless!!!

I am glad you noticed the newspaper quality I was going for though 'olbeardy,' Thanx! ...it made my day that you noticed ...and the only things painful are your lack of imagination (not seeing the potential in the concept), lack of a personality and your assumption that i used photoshop! ...must be another designer with a chip...

I knew I could count on some of you to come through for me, you never fail me when it comes to me making my quota of negative comments received! Love it! wooohooooo! I think I'll go for the record...
It amazes me how often people waste their time investing in commenting on a design they hate, just give it a '0' and move on to the next one, seriously! It doesn't make me look bad, it makes you look bad, and I am trying to do you a favor!

You all need to take a lesson from "Frickinawesome" on how to leave a comment. He did have criticisms, but he did it "constructively" and it can be taken quite easily. No one wants to see insults on here anywhere, especially directed at them. I am actually bored of them and disappointed by those who feel the need to cover their own insecurities with slams on others' work. So you hate it, then waste no time here, move on, if you read this then there must be some interest or are you just unoriginal and want to get ideas for what to write(?)

Olbeardy, I didn't grow up in a generation that offered me photoshop courses before I ever got out of high school nor could I afford a rich brat design college, and in effect had to teach myself how to use the graphics software after finishing grad school (that i still pay for). It erks me that they'll teach anyone to use this software, b/c some think they are instantly pros at it, when bottom line is you still have to have 'natural ability' to make the effects convincing (in other words pull the log out of your eye first)...

Now i have officially wasted my time...

Why so rude to everyone who gives you feedback?! If you don't take on-board the negative and only accept the positive/neutral feedback as valid then you're in the wrong trade.

This offering is an improvement on your last, but defending criticism of the quality of this submission by saying that it's a 'rough concept' is a lame excuse. If it's not finished, don't submit it or you will recieve a crap score. Simple as that.

Accusing people of lacking imagination because you're too lazy to finish your design is just hilarious. Would you pitch to a client with a sketchbook of rough ideas and accuse them of lacking imagination if they didn't share your grand vision of the final outcome? I hope not.

You present your final design here, not a rough concept so that people can use their imagination. Just please accept that you fucked up instead of making every excuse under the sun.

I didn't "F" up, I got exactly what i was trying for. I used a filter that sort of posterized the image to make the number of colors minimal, and the dark edges actually appeared b/c of the filter. You've got decent designs, but not everyone one here is good at t-shirt design as a medium. The only thing that I could have done better before posting it is how clean I cut the initial images out.
Like I said, and call it what you will, it's not an excuse, seeing as how I am the furthest from lazy on here, i needed to get my designs posted. It's finished enough to show the potential and the idea of the design. Some people got that...
This is far from pitching a presentation to clients, it's t-shirt art, and it's sad if you think I am foolish enough to actually sell myself this way with any of my work, I'm just not a t-shirt artist. I am too much into realism and have a hard time doing line art...
one more thing, I only get defensive and get rude with those who insult me, so color me human...

Please stop these crazy defensive raids, man. Just take example from other folks on here who take on criticism without having to write eight paragraphs about how he doesn't have time to defend himself for the sake of people with crippling amounts of insecurities. Just thank the ones who are constructive and don't let your pride be damaged by those who are allegedly so pathetic.

Oh, and fatheed's designs are awesome, not decent.

For one that claims o be so mature and a big boy you act like a pretentious teenager.

You've got decent designs,

Not decent, they're great and far better than yours.

but not everyone one here is good at t-shirt design as a medium.

Yes, like you for example.

This is far from pitching a presentation to clients, it's t-shirt art, and it's sad if you think I am foolish enough to actually sell myself this way with any of my work

Well, seeing what Threadles pays for a design i doubt it's something to be taken lightly, and considering the level of competition here it's pretty stupid to think such a lacking work is going to do well.

Dude, seriously just stop being a bitch, man up and try to improve yourself or get the fuck out of here. Regardless of what you might think this community is pretty friendly and welcoming, unless you're an asshole and/or a crybaby, so it's not like people are coing down on you for being new, if your designs were gret you'd be hearing it from a lot of people.

...actually it's rough b/c it is merely the concept.

That's what the critique section is for. This is where you present your finished submission. This is what people vote on.

some think they are instantly pros at it [computer software], when bottom line is you still have to have 'natural ability' to make the effects convincing.

you sure hit the nail on the head there.
LordWard
LordWard on Jul 16 '08
you obviously didn't take the time to view the 'natural ability' in my illustration section of my portfolio there GiGi! So please go get ya some!
I never claimed to be a pro at 'photoshop,' I rarely use it actually. Design goes well beyond the computer sister... in most cases you have to be able to illustrate before you can make the buttons work for ya. I say most, b/c you picked a subject and style that allows you to be juvenile and loose on purpose. I can respect the idea of being mass productive and kicking out tons of product, which you are able to do since there's not technically illustration in your work, mere doodles...
Hey, Ginette X 2, by the way, have you ever had your mouth washed out with soap? ...and yes on this one I AM offering... it will be an extra large bar of it! I am sure your folks are proud of their lil' girl...

You guys are getting predictable, ya keep on coming back, all I have to do is write something (anything) and it's like someone releasing piranhas on a tired swimmer (i stress the word tired)
I love it, it's like a new hobby for me, keep 'em coming guys, we've come this far, we might as well do it right... all this attention, wow!
Oh and professorE, it's not a 'critique' section, it is a comment section, i didn't ask to be critiqued or ragged in this case, but apparently you don't get that choice here. I expected votes. ...yes you do have the right to comment (i like it, i don't like it, i hate it, etc.) and I have the right to explain my point of view on what you comment on, right? ...or should I say how you critique me. Yes suggestions are fine, I am always up for ways to make my designs better, but i don't need the insults, it's all in your dellivery and I've seen few here that know how to do that smoothly, a few try, but ultimately...
