Shooting from the hip basically means to photograph whatever you want without any consideration for composition, possibly even the subject matter and lighting. It's the pure freedom and randomness, but it's great when you develop the film (or check it on your digi cam) only to find something better than you ever expected.
Besides the with type/without type versions shown above, there's also one without the color fill, just the line art, and it looks really good too. Enjoy.
