Did I ever tell you about the time myself and Lunchboxbrain went out for a cup of iced coffee and a blueberry muffin? Well, once we set up the time of 3:45pm, I arrived at Java the Hut coffee shop right on the nose, and didn't see LBB anywhere to be found. Well, after waiting for the sun to move in the sky for what seemed like thirty minutes- sometimes I like guess-timating the time based on the ancient practice of sun-staring, which actually dates back to the time before history was written down, so I think it's kind of strange that we know it was done before history if history is how we know what has and hasn't been done in the past. Anyway, LBB finally showed up after I had gone temporarily blind for staring at the sun for too long, which i can estimate would be about forty-two minutes. He said that he had been stuck in traffic and then spent some time chatting with a homeless fellow in the alleyway where he had parked his car next to the coffee shop. He said the person was named Alfonse and had once had a profitable business selling insurance for fire, but not against fire burning things, but insuring fires that must stay lit like the Eternal Flame in Washington and the three-day Burning Man art piece. Unfortunately, his office was burnt down in a fire by an errant spark from a furnace that was to remain lit at all times right next door that he had insured, so he couldn't technically put the fire out without being sued by the other man for breach of contract. We eventually went into the coffee shop and ordered our iced coffee and blueberry muffins, but they were unfortuntely out of both. So LBB and I discussed going to another coffee shop but then decided against that and making due where we were on account of a slight drizzling rain making the ground ever-so-anxious for people to deposit their bodies on the ground after falling towards them. Did you know that you are 90 percent more likely to fall after a slight rain than a torrential downpour? A man in the intensive care unit of a previous hospital stay told me that after he had tripped on a wet dust mite after a five minute thundershower, at least he told me it was a rather slippery dust mite. So LBB and I called the waitress back over again, had her put some ice in some coffee-flavored fountain soda, and ordered some Fruity Pebbles and a muffin and took our time inserting the pieces of blueberry-flavored pebble into the muffin tops for one another. It wasn't as wonderful as the real thing, but hey- at least we got close to what we came there for.

the only thing that bugs me about this is the word spacing on "me of" it looks like meof, everytime to me. I dunno what Meof is, but I like the rest of the type treatment so much I may just google it.

haha, your story reminded me of the other day, i think it might have been last wednesday - maybe thursday - around 9:03pm. my husband and i settled down on the couch, which i bought last year for a really good deal, to watch a george carlin HBO special. it's sad that he's passed on, but he made this funny joke (well they were all pretty funny) with the exact same theme. we hadn't laughed that hard together since probably three years before that, when this really funny incident occurred that i can't possibly begin to mention at this time. you know, it might have actually been 9:15ish...

I love the typo and the idea is very funny :D

To me, the common place observed and retold by a poet is what art is all about. So I say "bravo!" to this wonderful idea.



However, though the concept succeeds, the distinctive and well-formed typography fails in its attempt to support and convey the essence of the idea. Given the gist of the message, the ideal visualization would have been tedious and wearisome to look at. It's obvious from the comments on this page that it falls far short of accomplishing that.



The failure, of course, lies in your choice of artist to collaborate with. It should have been obvious that Lunchboxbrain's style is far from being ho-hum, thus making him an unlikely candidate to best illustrate the concept. A better choice would have been a typesetter specializing in the production of furniture assembly instructions or government documents describing the bidding parameters given to competing contractors.



Still, the idea is compelling and the shirt is visually appealing, so I'll give it a $5, but not with out admonishing you for asking Fabergé to make you an omelet.

Ha quister! The trick here was to try and portray the feeling of the slogan visually but still maintain something that is exciting to look at. It's purpose is to draw you into wanting to read the whole shirt, yet the type getting smaller and smaller to elaborate the faux tediousness of the shirt;s intent. It's basically the closest we can ge to trying to make something exciting yet illustrative of the ironic point we were trying to make. Or you can look at it straight-laced and buy it for your local long-winded stroyteller!
