the goal of my drawing is to communicate an idea with as few lines as possible (that's why joe has only an arm to hold his mug, a couple of legs to stand on and a caffeinated expression on his face).
i hope all you coffee-drinkers and former coffee-drinkers enjoy this design.

Ah. So many subtle meanings in such few lines. Greatness! :D I will totally buy if it is printed.

Who would have thought my whole life could be captured in less than 20 lines. I feel so meaningless....so emo...

It doesn't work for us who don't count filter as coffee... BUT I dig your few lines policy...

nice ... simple, clean, right to the point. slave to the coffee. this pretty much says it all for me when I tried to go through my hellish withdrawal from daily java.

damn that's basically my a gnats-ass perfect description of me in less than 10 lines. yep, I'm a coffee slave ... and can't get away from it. tried and failed.

hope this shirt goes to print!

phenomenal! stick figure's face and "coffee bowl" and chain motif says it all. a definite 5 IMO.

if this shirt doesn't go to print it would be a huge disgrace ...

I'm not a coffee drinker but i've seen the effects of its caffeinated worldview rear its jittery head on friends and co-workers! Strange placement all around, but i like the minimalism here and the person seemingly breaking away from itself to have another cup.
chickenfighter
chickenfighter on Jun 25 '08
the placement is something i struggled with. originally the little man was in front and the chain wrapped around the side to the coffee pot in the back of the shirt. i got some good advice from the crit process where someone suggested that the two were separated such that you only saw either a little stick figure or a pot of coffee and neither of them were interesting enough to stand alone.
keeping the drawing down low and in the front of the shirt seemed to make sense due to the visual weight of the chain and the dark pot. that also left plenty of room for all the coffee stains that i imagined people would be spilling all over the front of their shirts.

I don't even drink coffee and I would buy this. I would get it for my two co-workers. They look like Prison Joe after a night out.

chain him to a french press and its $. plain ole 5 for chaining this person to an inferior vessel.
chickenfighter
chickenfighter on Jun 27 '08
yeah, i prefer the press myself.
i originally had him chained to another piece of coffee paraphernalia, but a very brilliant person suggested that i change it to an old-time diner-style coffee pot because it more closely resembled the jail-theme ball and chain.
