While I KNOW that its supposed to be a sheet covering the "dead" dandelion - that doesn't stop me from thinking (and probably most passers-by) that its a popsicle.
I think it'd be cooler without the sheet. Maybe a little skull at the end of the stem! |

Rather than covering the dead, it would of been nice to see a imprint of a show or boot...like seamus said the dandelion does kind of look like a popsicle.

The sheet over the dead one is confusing, at first I thought it was a square dandelion, which was kinda weird.. love the concept though.

Wowza. I guess I needed to make it a tad more clear.
Without the blanket, the idea is too simple (and gross). The jump to "dandelion popscicle" would seem to take more imagination than a dandelion under a blanket. Oh, well. Thanks for the comments : ). |

I must have a fantastic imagination because I'm among those who see a popsicle instead of a flower stem covered by a sheet. I still love your style ever so much, the still-living dandelions are amazing and I adore the colors. The concept is great, just work on executing the idea in a more clear fashion.

You could try putting a "red" cross on the blanket.
I think that would make it pretty evident that we're looking at a death scene. A suggestion of context with grass blades next to the "parents" may also help...? I love the way the top of the seeds are drawn, really pretty and goes along with the almost country feel of the drawing and color choices. Keep it up! |

i couldn't tell what the blanket was. square dandelion? i don't like the skull idea that has been mentioned one bit. i really like what you did here, except for the confusion with the blanket. but aside from that i'm a fan, and i plan to rate it highly!

I really like the idea, and the point of it, but the "death of the child dandelions" wasn't really obvious. but i still like it.

you know...looking at the comments...maybe because of the "blanket" it was a bit confusing. But maybe if the blanket was a leaf??? Perhaps it would come across a little clearer, cuz once you make the dandelions real people, logic starts working in ppls heads, like, where are dandelions gonna get a blanket... erm, i'm not being mean just writing out my thoughts. I love the design though and the colors are so touching :)

well-illustrated for sure...i'm surprised no one's commented on how kick-ass that moustache is, so i'm going to go ahead and do it on behalf of everyone. kick-ass moustache, good sir. my only recommendation is to make it all bigger so those great details are easy to see. and maybe if the dead dandelion's stem was bent or twisted it would read less like a popsicle stick (for those who see it that way).

Not to jump on the bandwagon, but I, too, was terribly confused by the blanket. I don't know about a skull- a simple empty dandelion head would do it, I think

the blanket threw me off too. thought it was a picket sign lol. i think the skull idea could work, the cross on the blanket could work, the chalk outline with maybe some police tape could work so experiment and see what happens. i love the mustache too! i think this design is great once you fix the blanket!

I think the chalk outline would work well, especially if you had chalk outlines of the seedlets scattered across the ground as well.
