About my design

by grafik54
Always been fascinated by how something as amazing as evolution is underpinned by something as simple as a change in the 'letters' of the code. Also a big fan of Sesame St.

I like the concept, but I'm not sure what you have here illustrates it well. Maybe the red gecko could look different in some way, also the link from DNA bases to evoluation is a kinda long one. Anyways, keep working on it! I think you might have something here.

^ A single displacement mutation could result in a different color manifested on the phenotypic level. All evolutionary changes are derived from changes in the environment and mutation and adaptation in the genotype, so it is resultant of base changes.

nip66, it's basic biology. :/

All I see is adaptation, no evolution. :o\

Also, most of the genetic disorders that arise during such adaptations are the result of poorly transcoded mRNA, which uses a U instead of a T.

Hi

I hadn't expected to create such an intellectual discussion on the details of the evolutionary/adaptive process. But I take the points made and really appreciate the feedback. I will endevour to work on the original idea.

Also,

Thanks to FoxyPhoenix who got the idea across in words far more eloquently that I could have.

Been done a bit too many times for my taste buds, with the DNA letters not doing enough to push the concept from stale to moist and delicious.

I like the idea, but the lizard should actually change a little...

I think it's a fantastic idea. It would be that extra bit awesome if the non-evolving lizards looked a bit less cloned - and also a bit less evolved - but I like the way it is.

I agree with alecto and that it is great to point out that something seemingly so insignificant as a letter change in a code, software or genetic, can cause such large change.

Lovely!!! Threadless isn't creationist like Cotton Factory!

I'd wear this to my bio class :]

idea is not bad, but you could change the red gecko maybe into a bird or something more obvious!

I just want more shirts with gecko's on them!

What about if the red one (or the odd one out) matched the shirt, so that it has protective coloration?

this is too over simplified and boring and doesn't express well how mutations contribute to evolution.

What about if the Geckos are the cross links in a double helix shape? Or they make up the strands of the double helix? It might help bridge the gap visually, where the mere letters A,T, C, G don't do it visually.
