the black on white has alot of power, and it looks rad on the shirt, but im not to crazy about the subject. The fact its anatomically wrong doesnt bother me. But the way this country is going im not all that proud to be patriotic these days.
yeah i would not wear it. change the screens to "war = peace" and have the statute of liberty tied up somewhere with duck tape on her mouth, then you might have a better representation going
dollar5- Yea, I mean, it's not like living in this country gives you unheardof-in-history freedom and privilage. Taken for granted FTW!
cyanidee- wow, what an original idea! that's never been done before, ever! I'm amazed at your creativity with that one. Just, wow. Nice.
who doesn't love.... - I like what you've done with the design adapting it for a t-shirt, but I have to agree with FA. It's a little too clipart for this venue. Best of luck though! 3
gtoast99 - if by "unheardof-in-history freedom and privilage" you mean a failing economy, horrible health care, poor schooling, and corrupt government that spies on its citizens, conducts wars of aggression for personal gain, not to mention its systematic breaking of the constitution. i hope youre first in line when they want to RFID tag every American.
The fact that you can talk trash about America and not be censored or killed for it affirms how much you take for granted living in this country.
The fact that this "failing economy" means you still pay less for gas and lattes than most of the world while you can easily afford food, health care, clothes, a roof, a computer, webhosting, and the luxury time to complain about it on a site like this affirms how much you take for granted living in this country.
The fact that you talk of 1984 style dictatorship that doesn't exist while ignoring mention of your right to vote, and gripe about granting that same right to vote (among many other rights) to women and ethnic minorities in former dictatorships affirms how much you take for granted living in this country.
You just don't get how good you have it. Yes, we can improve. But you're way to fortunate to have been born here not to take pride in what generations have fought and died to build so you can whine away on an internet forum about how oppressed you are, when you don't even know the meaning of the word. Grow up, the real world is a scary place, and Americans have it so good it hurts. It's time people like you stop being so ungrateful, say THANK YOU for what you have, and we can all work together to make it better. But you'll get nothing done whining and complaining about imagined greivences on a t-shirt website. The rest of us will be picking up your slack in the meantime.
Eek, im going to try to avoid the political debates, but I don't think I would wear this. Partially because of how anatomically incorrect it is, and partially because it reminds me of those "I Love NY shirts" that I wouldn't wear because i'm a new yorker....its kind of hard to explain. It just feels touristy. But thats not meant to downgrade the quality of it, its a really nice design, just not what i would wear.
hey man, you know nothing about me, all i said is i am not proud to be patriotic at the moment. If you break it down it means i said i am patriotic, and am not talking shit about america, I love this country. Everything i said is FACT, based on real data.
I dont feel i take anything for granted. But i think most Americans take their cheap gas prices for granted, in a general cloud of ignorance. How many question where the oil comes from? or why we collectively use more oil to power our cars then every other country's total use. Oh yea and the new cars and trucks on the road are less efficient then the cars of the 80s.
By pointing out truths i dont believe im whining. to say anyone has to pick up my slack is offensive. I am an activist, i participate in many groups that work hard for issues no one knows about. like protesting to end the federal reserve (a privatly owned company). Informing people on the unconstitutionality of income tax. Ending the North America Union, you know the one that Bush signed that combines Canada, North America and Mexico into one country. Under one government with one currency. I'd like to see america in 10 years after the globalizationists finish out their plans for world globalization. or China successfully buys up all of our debt which ever happens first.
RFID tagging is very real, some gillette products actually have them built into the package. What do you think the chip on the underside of new passports is? What are the purposes of the "Real ID Act" with future random check points in our cities?
BTW a failing economy means our country is going bankrupt at an alarming rate, while spending more on war and collecting less overall taxes. Money is printed at a whim and no longer backed by gold. Our forefathers warned us, a centralized bank, and the industrial military machine would end our so called "freedoms", not to mention the country.
i'm not american and i love new york.. i gotta say it looks a little bit like a gift-shop shirt..
and in that context: lol at cyanidee's comment.. i'd love to see that done =)
I'm sorry that your t-shirt design, which voices little to no explicit opinion about America, has received less focus than the voters' opinions of the subject.
I love the design and think it's been awhile since an artist just captured a subject in simplicity without forcing their perspective.

Great and really powerful placement here, I just don't see this overwhelming threadless voters with its clip-arty samey landscape imagery.

I know it's creative licence, but as a born and bred New Yorker it bothers me that things are so out of place. :)

The design is well done but i think it would only cater to Americans.
