this is an excellent designs and any similarity to other submissions is simply because the Earth is in it. the cover of the book, Le Petite Prince, has the little Prince sitting on top of a beautiful blue and green Earth. PRINT THIS PLEASE! $5

I don't understand why you took such a depressing tone with this. I also don't understand how all the people who have read this story can love this so much.
The book is about responsibility, caring, and love. In the end of the book the Prince lets the snake bite him so he can return to his planet and care for it. This illustration seems to depict the opposite. The little prince in the story I read would never let this happen to his planet. Why would he sell the rose that he loved and cared for so much? This is basically against everything the little prince stood for. Regardless of how good the illustration is it just doesn't make any sense, and if you ask me is very depressing. |

Would've given a 5 if the design was smaller, but it feels like it takes up way too much room on the shirt. Still awesome, though. |

I never said it wasn't a good illustration.
This is pretty much a more detailed copy of my planet. It is almost exactly the same. All he did was add a rose a prince and some volcanos. The oil tower the factory the tree stumps the clouds. If you cant see that you are blind. The only reason I am pissed is because my submitted version was extremely rushed so we could make the Revolution deadline. I was planning on re-doing it with more detail and other changes to make it much better and re-submit it. But now everyone is going to think I jacked the idea from this guy. |

bollocks. as if the idea of depicting a planet and stuff on its surface were something very original. originality is shown in his point of view. and exactly because he understands what the little prince was about he drew this as a critique to what has been happening. dr nolove, please, move on.

Huh. I'm going to have to say that in all fairness, I do see a similarity in design. I don't know that I'd go so far as to say it's "jacked" - but I think if it was the other way around, and it was a first-time subber putting something up that was as similar to an Alumni, there would be a lot of outrage. Like I said, it's obviously not a direct copy, and no one questions that Draco has the skills to create this design, but I think DrNoLove isn't trying to be difficult and I don't think calling his design "lame" or him "colorblind" is called for.

i agree with you, berry, that calling him colorblind or telling him that the design is lame won´t help. but we all must step back and consider that planets with volcanos and other stuff on them aren´t really new. we´ve seen them a thousand times. we´ve already seen almost everything represented in similar ways. nothing is new. the point of view is the only thing, in my opinion, that can be interesting and make something brilliant.

I really think people need to stop ripping on DrNoLove personally - he has not been rude nor made derisive comments towards anyone of a personal nature. He feels wronged, and regardless of a poster being in agreement/disagreement he shouldn't be barraged by insults.

Listen, I never said I invented the planet, I never said I was the first to use a planet, I never said I was the first to use that perspective of a planet.
This is what I said and am saying again now. When I saw this design it immediately made me think of mine. Regardless of whether or not he jacked the idea from me or not. If you take out the aspects of this illustration that come from the little prince(the volcanos, the prince, and the rose) what do you get? You have a factory, a bunch of stumps, an oil tower, and a circle of dirty clouds. Now look at my design. What do you have? a factory, a bunch of stumps, an oil tower, and a circle of dirty clouds. What a coincidence. If you turn the tank into a truck and add the stream from the other planet in my design our planets would be almost exactly the same. He basically reproduced the same exact thing I had done and added stuff to try and make it his own. If I had of submitted my version after this every single one of you would either accuse me of stealing the idea or say its already been done. If this shirt is printed then my design is essentially worthless, regardless of how much I improve it, which I planned to do, I would be called a thief and be told its already been done. |

How about try to have another idea, you know, if you plan to work in this area you need to be creative, and trying to do the same thing again is not being creative. Actually you can still do your world if you use your talented to show something different. And You said that Draco stole your idea. But this illustration plays a other point of view, it´s not about choosing a better planet like yours, it´s just showing a tragic outcome to the little prince story. It´s clear that he did NOT intend to steal your idea, sometimes people from all over the world get simmilar ideas even when they have no contact with each other. I did a t-shirt design that used the same idea of one that was done here, about a kid under a monster bed, and later saw the threadless one.Sometimes coincidences happens. |

No, I don't know for a fact that he stole my idea.
But he has not denied that he saw my design. He even said himself that my design looks familiar. If he had seen my design before he produced this one then there is no way you can tell me he didn't take my design and make it his. It's one thing to make a similar design, its another thing when four of the main aspects of the design are exactly the same. Its the combination of the perspective, the oil tower, the factory, and the tree stumps that makes me wonder if he saw my design before he did this or not. If he had seen my design before this, which is likely if you look at how much time he spends on this site and how many designs he has scored, chances are he did "borrow" from my design. If he has never seen my design before this then it is just a shitty coincidence and I am sorry. |

i think you should improve your first submission as you had said you would do. the main ideas aren´t similar and i don´t really think it´s a coincidence. i think it´s an idea that reaches us through the media exactly because it´s an issue these days... i think he might have seen your design, very probable. but i don´t think he copied your design. you both collected symbols and meanings that are everywhere!
your second version won´t be worthless as you put it. the ideas ARE different. |
