The semi-colon is merely a testament to the bond forged between the comma and the period. For ultimate strength, nothing beats the comma.

It does look like an apostrophe.
If it's a comma, you can lower it to the right and shrink it a bit.
Just a suggestion, but I am a punctuation fan all around. :)

Grammar seems to be all the rage nowadays -- Vampire Weekend's "Oxford Comma"

Looks kinda like a 9 to me, but then again I don't pride myself on my grammar skills.
