Your second version is a better version of this idea...or is it? If this version was just done in a more textured and cleaner line style, less doodly in places, it would be a really decent contender.

If the art was good, Id dig this.

no, I really like the chess game better, much much better - it's less obvious and more sophisticated. I think you should stick with that.

But I agree with what' been said about the artwork. I'ts very poorly drawn, cartooney-like. It will make your design a lot more a) attractive, b) interesting, and c) less childlike. Also, try mixin up the shapes - you have a lot of perfectly straight lines or perfectly proportioned shapes, like the chairs and desk. Make the wood just slightly crooked, put a chip in something - anything to give it some character and realism.

[If you want examples for texture, take a look at Priscilla Wilson for inspiration - she'd had tons of shirts printed on threadless, and I love her because she's always got the best textures.]

oh - when I say "It will make your artwork blah blah blah," that "it" is referring to adding texture. sorry.
