About my design
by van
There was a time when kids didn't have mobile phones. In those wondrous times, the most efficient form of communication between houses was—after rocks, paper planes, and shouting—the good ol' pair of cans and a length of string.

And in every neighbourhood was the girl who lived next door to the boy. The boy said "Helloooo!" and through the distortion of the string, it came out the other end as "I love you!"

I think that the speech bubble looks fine. I don't know what other color it would be.

I agree about the bubble being white, it should match the color of the shirt but besides that I really like it. :]

Hey, thanks for the great feedback ladies! In hindsight I agree the voice bubble would probably be better as a very light pink or something like that, and perhaps the "HELLO!" could be in the purple, I'm not sure. Always something that can be revised if it gets printed huh!

Thanks again for the great response! ^-^

do they make it for men?
men need to communicate too you know

Shaneus on Mar 27 '08
I agree with jeffske... if it came out in a guys as well (possibly pale blue, but I think just about any colour would work with the same coloured print) I'd definitely buy it. Otherwise I need to find myself a girly and buy it for her ;) Nice work!

Petou: Aaah, good question! I don't know anything about that, haha. Maybe I should explore the options more before submitting designs... -_-

Lani: Thank you :D

Is the string meant to join up from front to back? because it doesn't look to me like it doesn't join up.
van
van on Mar 27 '08
Nah, not at all. I know it'd technically need to connect for it to work as a concept haha, but I think aesthetically it looks nicer this way.

it'd be funny if the can was like "What are you wearing?" ha ha! more fitting for the title.

YES YES YES

I wish there were a higher rank than just 5! This is worth a 10 at LEAST!

distortion in the string! hehe genius! and then she would say "i have been waiting for you to say that forever!!!" and it would come out as "let's just be friends" on my end... stupid unreliable string...

ignore all the elaborate text. I like the two cans and string by themselves. I think the text might be too distracting from such a nice clean simple design. good stuff.

But I'd love it if the bubbles were "see-through," the same color as the shirt.

nice!!!!!!! love the way you handled the drawing, and the way the illustration wraps from front to back. these colors are great for the ladies, but, could you also try out a 'guys color' like a gray or blue?

i like it. i think it would be kind of neat to have the 'hello' on the back. i also agree with someone who said that it looks neat even without the speech bubble.

I hear what you're saying about the bubbles, but I guess it just comes down to interpretation. To me it'd look great without them, but not *cute*. Cute was my aim, and I think the bubbles make the difference there!

It's a 100 on the cuteness meter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Which is why I don't like it--especially, the heart. So saccharine.

Totora on Apr 02 '08
I asume the wire wraps right the way around the back... it's a lovely concept. The speech bubble in a midtone might make it more subtle... its such a casual and soft design that the high contrast of the bubble breaks it a bit.

Thanks for all the nice comments folks. Looks like it hasn't scored high enough to be printed though. Oh well! Was a good bit of fun nonetheless. :)
