I have to be honest.
Love the concept, very funny and great colors but there´s a few things in the execution that I personally dislike a bit. The hands on the swat guys look rushed and out of place compared to the great detail on the bodies. Same with the fly swat, the lack of detail and wonky perspective and how it´s both transparent and opaque in different spots makes it look a bit sloppy.

I´m a big fan of your work, but I have to give this one a 3

It's kinda meant to be sketchy & haphazardly coloured but I understand that will not be to everyones taste. The decision to leave some areas minimal in detail was also deliberate & in the case of the swatter a functional move to make sure the design was centrally balanced. I do appreciate your opinion however.

The back shoulder design confirms that life is worth living.

The front of the tee is a bit too style clashing for me and doesn't seem to rest on the tee as well as it should be. Maybe without the power yellow action lines behind it? Still an awesome design.

Really rad! I like how the back design is small and on the shoulder. any bigger and it would look cheesy. The front design is awesome.

Okay, time for some good old fashioned controversy. This, in my opinion, is an example of subconcious, lack of confidence scoring. I've judged many design and advertising shows worldwide and I've seen this before. Here you have Hogboy, brilliant designer, who submits what I consider to be a very subpar design. However, this design scores well because his reputation precedes him. Voters think, "This guy has won, like, 20 times or something...if I don't like this design, perhaps there's something wrong with me...maybe it's brilliant and I don't get it. Might as well give it a 5." Trust me, this one isn't one of his bests...it's a 2.2 at best. I've been in judging situations where people will look at a press ad for Levi's and be like, "This sucks" then they realize..."Wait, Levi's is a Bartle Bogle Heagarty client and they do brilliant work...surely I'm the one who's blind. Let's give it a gold lion." I rest my case.

By the way, I am a huge fan of Hogboy, his designs are for the most part, brilliant. This one is not. You can't always hit gold.

I'm around here for almost a year, voting every single day, and hogboy isn't still a familiar name for me. Yeah, he got a lot of prints... but just one of them have some appeal to me. I'm a mean voter, and a 3 is already a pretty rare vote from me, yet I voted 4 here. It's simple and fun... a light joke. Why can't it score like this without designer influence?
