About my design
by TheArtRobot
The buildings, rockets, and clouds spell out the hidden message (PATRIARCHY). It can be printed on a dark color so the whole design is seen in the daytime, or on a light color so only the buildings are obvious, and then when the lights are out, it super glows to reveal the full design.

I'm finding it quite difficult to read the word 'patriarchy' - any way of making it more obvious?

I disagree FMF, subtle is cooler

Well thats cuz boob shaped buildings are less efficient as far as use of ground space is concerned.

Do you know how many city blocks an 80 story boob shaped building would take up??

I loved it... until i realised it said patriarchy.. now i am not as keen... its still nice though

The letters work quite well apart from the spaceship for A and the last building for Y other than that its an allright design.

podunk42 on Mar 14 '08
Yeah, touch up the A and the Y. It's an awesome concept.

I like it on black--- good idea with all of the phallic monuments ;-)

I love the idea but the title is really bad...i think is better: Living in a Phallocratic Society

by the way white and black doesn't works with this incredible idea....I think navy, or a life colour will be better

i'm glad someone else noticed they were all phallic monuments, clearly the designer was being clever on multiple levels.

Pop-Monkey on Mar 14 '08
Clever idea, but I gotta tell you -- I hate "phallic conspiracy" notions. It's a simple case of aerodynamics and engineering science. Penises don't enter into the equation!

orwell on Mar 14 '08
i didn't even realize it spelled 'patriarchy' at first...i just thought they were all phallic type structures and that was what made it a patriarchal society

Awesome design!

FoxyPhoenix on Mar 15 '08
Great idea, but I think that spelling patriarchy out (albeit ambiguously) doesn't suit the style... I would ditch the wording and just let the shapes speak for themselves.

I like it. I'd place it on a dark blue or gray shirt, to bring out the other colors. I think the rocket ship is fine for an A, but the P could use a bit of work. I'd keep the text very obscure like you have it, because it'd really make it worth wearing if it has a simple yet cool design on the surface, and then a deeper meaning if you were to examine it longer, like an inside joke.

Cool, but that might not be the best word to use. It's pretty hard to figure that out and not particularly meaningful.

Not particularly meaningful?! It's one of the most charged words in the English language!

If you flipped (left-right) the building in the 'Y', in may read better as that letter.

Considering the objects you chose, I would have expected it to spell out P-H-A-L-L-U-S
Castrillon
Castrillon on Mar 18 '08
It's a cool tee, maybe hard to see the spelling, moreover if you're wearing it, but it's cool anyway.

Hehehehehe, the P-H-A-L-L-U-S idea isn't bad at all

The hidden word doesn't justify the design for me. It feels visually unbalanced.
TheArtRobot
   TheArtRobot on Mar 18 '08
^I don't know exactly what you mean, but I like how you used the word "justify". It can have several meanings, (as in "to uphold", or "to line up in printing") both of which pertain to your comment. Excellent play on words!

The problem I'm getting is that "patriarchy" is the kind of word that gets tossed around by bra-burning radical feminists, and it gets this whole "Buildings are shaped like penises because of the male oppression!" vibe when buildings are shaped like penises because when you want to put a lot of something in a small land area it ends up looking like a penis. Just echoing that "Phallus" would probably be better, since it doesn't have quite the same connotation, and is generally more lighthearted.

Unless that IS what you're trying to say, in which case I'll politely move along
