About my design

by Mr. Reed
This Zombie is re-Animated. This should work, in theory. When the light is on, you see the standing zombie. When the light is off you see the glowing zombie, and not the standing zombie, as now it's too dark. FLip book zombie will DANCE! Flick the lights and hum Thriller, or let the strobe at the club do the work for you.

It's two colours. Bright green for lights on, Superglow for lights off. The black lines are shown here for clarity, but would actually not be printed, so the shirt colour will be the lines. I say black, but perhaps it will work on something else dark

I don't think this will work as you've described. But I think it needs several more dance moves to make the message clear, and if they were all glowing that would still be cool.

Okay, this won't work, because the glow ink shows up perfectly on black especially. So two figures will appear, but only one will glow at night. The glow ink isn't invisible, it is still a color, it just glows.

I wasn't under the impression that glow inks would show up perfectly. I'm only going by the literature put out by threadless. If it does "show up perfectly" then the company's claim that it's great for hiding secret messages needs to be pointed out as completely wrong and the specs about the super glow stuff changed in the submission kit guidelines.

But, even if it does show up perfectly, then it should be an easy fix to make this work. It will need to be printed on a light coloured shirt instead, or the whole thing gets printed over top of a light coloured field of ink that the glow ink won't be as visible against. Or, for that matter, a translucent area of ink could be printed around the figures, like some sort of half-tone fog, that obscures the glow figure.

By the way, it only animates if you flick the lights, as per the presentation. It needs a manual switch between images to be able to take advantage of the persistence of vision phenomenon, just like any animated thing (flip book, film, flash movie). So please don't go giving anyone the impression that I'm saying this will dance on it's own, because I'm not.
My name is spelled wrong.
Dark colors would make both designs show up though.

Threadless describes Superglow as being almost transparent on light colored shirts. I only point it out because I don't think it will work exactly as you have it up there. I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, but I thought that you should know that it will show up on a dark T. However, everyone seems a little confused about the actual properties of the glow ink, so I could be mistaken.

I'm gonna assume you can work out the kinks. For this, a light-colored shirt would be well worth it to me. And I'm one of those dorks who still likes black tees best. $5
