what's with the horizontal line??
alonsky

the line is a metaphor, a wall of misunderstanding between two people.

The horizontal line isnt between two people at all. its vertical that means up and down. horizontal goes left to right, like the horizon

oh,
that one!
i don't know... nothing is up with it, just felt like it was balancing my composition. why? do you need to explain everything?

on further inspection, the man sitting on the chair is really poorly done. the highlight details you added seem misplaced. if you follow the way his legs are facing left and then his upper body is facing us - this is a really very awkward way to sit. if you weren't looking at a reference photo i think it would help you if you found one (if you are looking to rework this).

also the shadow bothers me a lot. where the shadow of the chair legs are reaching just seems wrong since the side of the chair is facing us head on - unless i'm not understanding this form at all.

if you want to rework it though i'd suggest the critique forum, because there are a lot of things that could be improved.

no not every element needs to have a concrete meaning but it is important for things to make sense within its design.

i don't think either straight lines are working for you here.

dear ginetteginette,
thank you for your comments and inspections :)
but my goal was not to create a realistic depiction of some photo.
rather create a mood and reflect human emotion.

I think the horizontal line looks like a stripper pole.

i think some people have no souls...
it is obviously an intense expression of emotionsss remember those? you used to have them when you were a child before you suffocated yourself somewhere in adolescence, and decided instead on mental masturbation...

the colors are ripe with cool intensity which is easy to underestimate...
