I've got a bunch of christian story books from the sixties that look like this. The best is Sampson with his head shaved and his eyes gouged out. He has a big smile on his face as he kills everybody.

It does have an old fashioned children's book illustration feel to it, but I don't think that is helping it. Infact, I don't see any reason anyone would want to wear this on a tshirt. There's not much of a story or anything engaging about it.
