About my design
by T42
I know it's very easy and very simple but just take a minute or so to look at it.
I put the red dot in the very middle of the shirt, not higher up, not off centre, not above the heart (it's not supposed to be a hole) because here it is really disturbing which is what I like about it. It's almost like a chakra, like a point of energy.

reminds me of laser tag. not a bad concept behind it but i wouldn't buy it.

I didn't put all the explanation there to sell the thing (because I know everone can make this) but just to make you look at it and maybe try to imagine what it would be like wearing it or seeing someone with it.
And I also put the explanation up to avoid loads of stupid comments.
I still like it but to be honest I wouldn't buy it myself because it's too simple but I would like to wear it though!

Thank you Invisible Citizen
I like your idea of a laser tag, maybe I should have called it that, it's exactly the disturbing feeling I wanted this dot to generate.

god you're an idiot t42...
Mega-Duce
Mega-Duce on Dec 01 '03
the problem is if you really find it necessary to explain (defend) your shirt idea, well its probably not very good as it doesnt have the ability to get its point across.
T42
T42 on Dec 02 '03
to mikecuesta: I said I wouldn't buy it but that I would wear it, so I still find it an interesting shirt

to poopertonesquire: you should recognize an idiot from far away since you are one yourself, when are you going to submit your next version of wesley?

to mega-duce: I agree with you that a design that needs an explanation isn't a good one (defending is something else) but I just made an introduction so people wouldn't see it and say: "oh no, a red dot, how stupid"
I think I'm getting my "point" across very well here because it's already very disturbing to some people and it's not even been printed.

to all: I don't mind negative criticism (I was pretty sure this would get some remarks) but it should be constructive, so thank you to all the people who explained why they didn't like it

hey poopertonesquire, I already forgot it's you that made that neo-nazi shirt, maybe I could have put "just kidding" on the back of this shirt as well, as a second version hahahaha

I don't think people are disturbed. I just think their snickering into their coffee mugs and perhaps rolling their eyes. I'd by it in a thrift shop for a buck. Just to make people look at me weird. But nothing more.

Hmmm, I can see some people are beginning to like this simple red dot, gunlust has even understood the purpose of it: people will look at your T
And some would even consider buying it (4 or 5$ is a fair price I must say)

I would like to defend t42 .poopertonesquire i have looked at all your tees
before i made this comment and i think you cant say anything as offensive
as you have your t shirts arent that great althought they have all been scored well
i dont get it T42 i think this is cool now everyone will say how can you find a red
dot cool but look at conceptual art its all about the thought process. There is a
thought process here somewhere so use your imagination man and dont be so
uptight about a t shirt its cool or its not I give it 4

T42 on Dec 09 '03
thanks to grafiksm4n for your comment (and the 4 points ofcourse)
and many thanks to all that gave me some points anyway
and to those of you who still have doubts: no I was serious about this (although it was a VERY simple "design")

Look you can't hide the fact that this is a red dot on a black t-shirt. It does not represent any kind of "chakra" point. It is just a lazy design, nothing more. The fact that when someone mentioned it looked like a laser sight you went along with it and didn't correct them as to your original interpritation for the design shows that you don't really know/care what it is. I'll end it when I want to and I still like my shirt
It's not lazy design, I never changed my interpretation because I know what it is and that's what I called it: RED DOT

I like the fact that people are still giving comments on this T, even months after I've submitted it.

I'm currently working on a 'green square' version :o)
