It's actually copyright/royalty free clipart. So it's completely okay for anyone to use it whereever they want. Probably from Dover books or something, I use their stuff alll the time.

Dig the colors.
The Ghost of Hunkalicious
This is in such incredibly bad taste... you did hear the recent news story about a US mom that killed her 1 month old this way? !? Boooo.
The Ghost of Hunkalicious
btw, O$ for basically having zero concept except the placement of some previously used clip art on a t-shirt.

WaitAMinuteChester,

Show us where you picked up this image so we can vote
knowing if you stole it or if it's an image in public domain.
Right now I'm going to vote based on you stealing it from
drmtama2 until you prove otherwise.

Well, this is absolutely awesome and I'm going to $5 it because I want a shirt with this on it, however... it is the same exact art from the other shirt so... what gives?

helo, it's public domain, I have the book sitting here.

Hey all, Mr. Robsoul is right on! The image is indeed a public domain image, and indeed picked up from Dover Books. I actually work for Dover and always thought this image would make for a cool t-shirt. I finally got around to separating the skeleton from the man and playing with colors/placement and subbed. I obviously had no idea about drmtama2 sub, otherwise I wouldn't have submitted. I also wasn't trying to pawn this off as my own (as my previous sub styles can attest) as I know the threadless audience is too vast for no one to have come across this image before. I just wish I knew it was subbed previously! Downside of royalty-free...(though I do prefer my treatment)

"It's actually copyright/royalty free clipart. So it's completely okay for anyone to use it whereever they want. "
c'mon isn't threadless about originality and creativeness?
sure it's not technically ripped, but it is lazy.

rpolich on Feb 14 '08
word up, nomad. too many people sub stuff because they want to see something "cool" on a shirt. well, if you can copy it out of a book, it ain't cool. make it yours.

Except that, when re-worked in just the right way, works derived from "found" material can be really awesome. Like, say, Tiny Toy Talons.

this is a total rip on the style of Judith Leyster, a painter from the Rococco period...she had a painting called "the last drop" which featured two men drinking with a skeleton...so even what you ripped it from is ripping off something else.

Judith Leyster was a renaissance artist like 200 years before the rococo period, man. But you're right, this is extremely similar in terms of subject matter.

I have an idea - - how about everyone stop whining, and score the shirt off of your first impression! Bottom line is - do you want the tee or not - we've already determined there is no copyright infringe, right??

if this gets selected for printing, won't you have to pay Dover books in order to use the image commercially?
anyway, 0$ for unoriginality
