The Des Moines Dandies you say? Please allow me to scoff. One only needs to travel 50 miles to the North-East to find the Marshalltown Base-Ball Club! The Marshalltown nine have been considered the most prominent base-ball club in all of Iowa! Why, they have even traveled as far as Omaha, Nebraska to compete in tournaments! I do say that my local team could give the Des Moines Dandies a sound beating should both meet up on the Base-Ball pitch! Of course, it would be foolish of the Dandies to go up against the Anson trio — the youngster is certainly looking to be a star.
Don't get me started about the Rockford Forest Citys of Rockford, Illinois. That subject is certainly a sore spot in my fair town's collective side. But I dare say, we held our own quite well.
