Is pretty! I wonder if this is a real cultural thing. There are a couple trees by the waters edge near my house that are coated at times with strings and little strips of taped paper on the string (sealed).

yoko ono had a modern art exhibit at st. paul's in london last year that included one of these trees. so while this isn't exactly a new concept, the shirt is lovely.

Tanabata!!!!! Is a Japanese tradition, which is mostly popular among children, Where you right your wish on special paper, and hang it on the Tree, and those who grant your wish are Orihime and Hikoboshi, which are really the stars, Vega and Altair.

In Short, Tanabata is a festival taking place on July 7th,in wishing Orihime and Hikoboshi to finally meet each other. It's customary to write wishes on slips of paper called Tanzaku.
