as bio-bot said, the moth is a real species, some of whom just happened to be featured in a film once. there's nothing wrong with letting mr. moth here have another moment of stardom.

I also stole the birds from Hitchcock's 'The Birds", the blackberries from my local fruit and veg shop, and the female form from Hugh Hefner. |

now im not saying you stole anything... or anything like that, but the first thing that comes to mind is silence of the lambs because of that bug. i dont know if thats going to be an association that most people would make, but i wouldn't want people asking if that was what it was all the time. but like i said, maybe not many people would think about that. other than that, i think its an awesome design

i think the only reason people keep making the "silence of the lambs" connection is because of the placement of the moth. it's upright and centered over everything positioned very much like the moth on the movie cover (see here: http://www.ecu.edu/cs-studentlife/universityunions/images/The_Silence_of_the_Lambs_poster.jpg ).
i think this is a great illustration and i don't feel that you're ripping anything off. i'm just throwing in my two cents as to why people are making that association. something to think about. nice work! |

Shame about the Silence of the Lambs thing - it never even crossed my mind that people would connect it so strongly with that. :/ |

this is groovy, i think the girl lets it down a bit though. she looks a bit too butch with big old arms etc. the blackberry bush and the birds are really good though. maybe try a design with just them?

Illustrations are awesome, I just don't get how everything comes together as a whole, you know? Maybe the girl is throwing me off, too?
