I think deaf people already know they're deaf and don't need your shirt to tell them so. Blind people wouldn't be able to read it anyway. So pointless and sort of insulting
I told my mother (who happens to be blind) about this shirt and she found it amusing. Also, the second word in Braille is spelled wrong. I find it interesting that blind people see this as a good shirt and normal people see it as insulting.
John, it was mine - I just added the Braille (now that puff ink is available) and upped the impact on the hand signals.
"I think deaf people already know they're deaf and don't need your shirt to tell them so. Blind people wouldn't be able to read it anyway. So pointless and sort of insulting"
I think you are missing the point. It's not a public information announcement to help deaf people realise they can't hear! It is just a comment that the majority of people who look at it won't know what it means but if you are deaf you probably can understand it. Therefore if you can read it you are probably deaf. It is in no way insulting deaf people, or blind people.
As far as the braille goes, I would suspect that even fewer sighted people could read it than the sign language so it is even more relevant. You have to feel it to read it, hence the puff ink. At the end in smaller braille it says 'and copping a feel'. so if a blind person was to read it with their fingers then they could have a little chuckle at that at the end.
Squirt13 - Just to be pointless and insulting, perhaps you could get your grammar right if you're going to comment on something that you obviously don't understand. What you should have written was "You're right, pointless and insulting" instead you suggested that it is my right to be pointless and insulting.
hmmmm...i like it a lot. i think we make enough jokes for people that CAN see and hear, why not have one for those that can't? it's funny, but it's obvious that it won't get printed because there are too many uptight voters. sorry JB.
i've already seen this done. it would be nice if the hands had an artistic style to them like hand drawn looking. right now it looks like a pre made font.
my friend has a deaf brother and i would never buty this because i don't think her family would find it very amusing.
Is that what it says? The "If you can't read this you are probably deaf or blind"? Because that would be horrible. If I were deaf or blind and saw someone wearing this shirt I would punch them in the throat.
I don't know which is more amusing, t-shirt or the fact that clearly people don't read the previous comments before posting. I wouldn't wear it, but pretty funny nevertheless.
Hmm. I like the braille one, but I think that the asl is a little...odd. do one just with the braille message, because it's not just 'oh you're blind' but the second half of the message makes me happy.
I think the copping a feel is hilarious.
To make another point, I see shirts often that offend me to a point, but I am not everyone and to think that someone shouldn't wear a shirt because I think it is offensive is actually what is pointless.
I think your idea is creative and I got a kick out of reading how many people are asking "ZOMG WHUT DOZ IT SAYZ?" when that has been answered numerous times.... people.
I think the typography leaves a lot to be desired. You should probably stick with either a deaf or blind concept, anyway. Putting them both on the shirt seems a bit forced.
i am deaf, and i like the idea, just because i hate it when people treat me like a cripple or something. dont take yourself too seriously. life happens.
The braille is definitely wrong. The 'Y' in 'You' does not correspond to the 'Y' in 'probably'. In fact none of the letters in that second word correspond to the same letter in other words on the shirt.
I was thinking about this as if I was blind or deaf.. and I think it would be really neat... It kinda says to the person reading it, "Yea, I understand :)" but even better for the blind with the extra comment. I think for some people being able to read this would make them feel a little spark of attention.. It's like seeing someone else with the same shirt on as you. Says you have something in common. In this case it's either knowing sign language or being able to read braille.
Believe it or not... not many people want to deal with disabled because it's "too hard" or will "take too long"... I was a salesperson at one point and some of my best and favorite customers were two different deaf couples. They really take it to heart when someone takes the time to understand them.
This shirt is like a secret between those that can read it.
This would make me feel nice if I were deaf or blind. 5
This is cooky and politcally awkward, but not incorrect. I think it is probably one of the best tees that I have viewed in a while as it looks good, has a point, I'd buy and wear it, if my maw didn't fill my wardrobe and knowing the meaning, would have a little to say about it. I and my maw like it. Have a guess what I'M getting next birthday!

Puff in used for the Braille. Check out the little message at the bottom!

Interesting concept, but I don't like the message.

...is there something missing?..I can't see those lovely circles of colour round the braille

Ha, I was able to read it and I'm not deaf or blind. I almost would buy it.

I'm not deaf or blind either $5

Has there been another shirt like this before? It's a great concept, but can't shake that feeling of deja vu...

I like this. It's witty and ironic, not insulting.

yeah you should point out that the braille is on puff ink cause otherwise it doesn't make much sense :P nice job anyway
The Jolly Brewer
The first comment does say that the braille is in puff ink...

what does it say?
dounoyerabcs
kinda cool
dounoyerabcs
what does it say though?

It says:
In ASL - If you can read this you are probably deaf
In Braille - If you can read this you are probably blind and copping a feel

deaf people aren't the only ones who can read this but i love the concept. 4

I like this shirt a lot. People who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Blind usually have a sense of humor like everyone else. 5

don't you love it when people jump to conclusions before reading things? Goodness...

oh, and since nobody seems to be commenting on the look rather than the message... I'd like it in charcoal and blue.

OK - To the people who are saying they have seen this before - It was me. This is a re-sub! I've amended it and added the braille.
To all the sensitive souls who seem to be offended, funny that both a deaf person and a blind person both think this is funny, and are not offended.
ImNoLo - I know, how many times do I have to repeat myself?
