I've taken a different angle towards the theme…

The idea is that each shirt purchased would also include a set of threadless markers to create a design, or not (the purchaser's choice). It's a simple concept which gives back to the community so the concept can be fully realized. After all it is a revolution right?… and who wouldn't like to own a set of threadless pens?

its not really revolutionary since it has been done. That said it's unlikely anything in this comp won't have been done, this is solid, and threadless don't need your money back as they'll make a bucket load out of whatever wins.

It's like the shirt version of Beck's Information do-it-yourself- cd cover! Nice idea, and you can even do your math homework in the grids!

This sub is not about the dollar$, it's more about the crazy concept & whether or not t'less or the judges would be brave enough to print it. The basic concept may have been done before but I’ve never seen it on t’less or any rival tee competitor… and I think t’less may make a bucket load for this comp, regardless of what they print, but the underlying theme for this sub is that it gives back to the community in more ways than one.

Plus, I tend to disagree seishunamigo, I believe that everyone has an artistic side to them… and if they believe in themselves can create something of beauty. And if they don’t, they have a graph paper shirt & a set of pens which reminds them of their youth (the purchaser’s choice of course).

Agreed, this has been done soo many times before.
I actually got a shirt for christmas that had a grid on it and the idea was to colour in blocks to make your own pixel art, in which case the grid made sense.

Why do you need a grid?

I mean, I dont mind drawing on T shirts myself and I dont think it looks cheap. It's inividual and peoplealways respond really well, but I've never used a grid.

I dont agree with letusbefree about the whole cheap thing. There is nothing wrong with drawing on your own T shirts. Its cool, cheaper and looks far more original than all the Photoshop stamped bush rubbish thats out there already.
I dont see the point in a website like this promoting designs you can buy in most shops.
It's just the grid seems suited to the types of people that are sucessful on this site. Non artists, graphic students and geeks that dabble in photoshop or vector programmes.

I love this shirt - kind of an inside joke for artists- it jumped out at me at first sight

it seems to me that this idea – especially the grid – is pretty much a blatant rip-off of Beck's CD cover. the grid is unnecessary when free-handing...why else would it be there, if not because it was stolen? you could have at least changed the color.

to be positive, i like the money going to charity thing, and i'm always up for a chance to personalize something you buy. so change the grid (either the way it's presented or at least the color), include maybe puff paint instead of markers (hells yeah, puff paint), and i'm in. for now, you get a 4.
