the only thing that bothers me is how cut off the left side of the image is.

I know this is one of those images riding the wave of that sammich car fad all you kids love, but I've seen this *idea* on Worth1000.com from quite a while ago. It's in one of the galleries for objects resized and interjected into new contexts. Yes, it was a subway sandwich put in place of an oncoming subway car in station. Y'all need to go scurrying around the internet more. But it is a nice idea.
As for your appropriation...not too bad. The perspective on the drink is off and looks like a bad paste job. The "No Food" sign makes no damn sense; what kind of statement is it even trying to make? Totally nonsensical.
It would seriously be improved by being only the sandwich, platform, and waiting passengers. "Subway sandwich"; that's something I can get behind.

The sign is perfection -- it creates the story! The man is hungry (because he can't bring a greasy burger or hotdog onto the subway), so what does he see around him? Food! Everywhere. And the woman (who of course had a sensible lunch) sees nothing out of the ordinary.
