The lights should be glow for sure. Good concept, however I don't think you took it far enough. For me it is in that awkard relm where it isn't "real looking" enough and it is not "cartoon looking" enough.

I dig the idea, I just wish the guy and the ladder were a little more realistic looking. More tentacles and maybe some nemesising eyes please.
