Any suggestions on how I can make the cherry not look like an apple?

I have another version of the drawing here , except this one is pink without the wings (so as to just be an octopus, but not a chthulu.

I would say draw a longer stem thing.
Maybe make the color a little lighter. The cherries they use for ice cream are a tad pinkish.
Overall though, looks good.

For the cherry, if you make the stem longer and also maybe a burgundy color like a real cherry stem would help make it clear.
But I love it anyway, it doesn't matter if he's holding a cherry or an apple.. : )
