'HARRY "HAYWIRE MAC" McCLINTOCK (the great), in an interview with SAM ESKIN, folklorist, on a wonderful Folkways LP, tells how and when he WROTE "Big Rock Candy Mountain". He sings the song on that recording but says that the original he'd first written was pretty "adult". He goes on to say (sadly) that some hobos used the story of the fantastic mountain to lure young boys onto the road with them to do work for them "among other things"!''

My dad used to play this on his guitar. I knew this song a billion years before O Brother, Where Art Thou? And I love it.
Neat shirt design, too. The art on the map itself strikes me as a little "clean" for the kind of design it is, but I'm 4$-ing it and hoping it's printed. |

Love the characters, but the map dosnt seem very map like to me.....
What about something more like - http://www.anmm.gov.au/webdata/shop/images/image_230_1.jpg or http://mathforum.org/~sanders/creativegeometry/9.1map1.gif ...but in your style, with the text hand writen instead of a typed font? |

Leroy_Hornblower on Nov 28 '07 Originally I had intended to hand write all the text, but that also meant I had to make the text larger in order for it to be legible. This led to the map becoming too cluttered, especially on the right side where the hens, lake of stew, and cigarette trees are already squeezed together. In the end I went with the cleaner, smaller, easier to read text.
The style of the map is inspired by the Hundred Acre Wood map by A. A. Milner. I’m a big fan of Winnie-the-pooh, and I instantly fell in love with this map when I saw it. http://openlearn.open.ac.uk/file.php/2751/E301_1_006i.jpg |

I LOVE the hobos! Drawn in that old-fashioned cartoony style. The map is awesome on it's own, but having those hobos there COMPLETELY sells me on it. I love it! $5
