Hey all, offering Sand and Silver Grey for this one. Truth be told, it works on any lighter-colored shirt. Anyway, hope you enjoy, every comment and/or criticism is welcome, as always!

I'd like it better if the background (color of the shirt) was used as a "color" in the pic
so that it's not a big blob of solid ink

also, it would class things up a bit

Mesenchyme on Nov 20 '07
I'll literally jump right on that immediately, you are too kind.

this design is gorgeous!!! i love the idea behind it too... i do agree witht he above comment though, thats very true. however, i do think a totally different colour would really bring it out. i can see this shining on a pale blue, or a earthy green. i would $5 it for every single one of my friends! you are quite the artist, and i think your design is beautiful anyway. 4 atm. good luck!

Very pretty. I feel like it needs another shirt color...but I can't think of anything that would look better. o_O I guess the silver grey is the best choice. Cute on any color though ^_^

I like the lower placement best. makes it more interesting when everything's not on the chest all the time.

If it were on the silver/gray then that T color could be the same as the gray shading in the pic.

It's all very nice. I'd buy it.

In regards to including a shirt color so it's not a 'blob of ink,' I'm happy to switch out the lighter gray for the Silver Gray shirt, but since there aren't tons of shirt shades between silver and black (and it doesn't look too hot on black!) I don't have many options. Anyway, hope its not a devastating flaw, thanks everyone for the feedback thus far!

Very nice art...I bet the middle of the 5 colors would be a great t-shirt color...post a link!

I find horses extremely hard to draw. This is great. I dig the shirt color also.

After considering each comment I've received, I wanted to provide a few examples which used available shirt colors, again avoiding a mass of ink that migh be unappealing to some.

Here
are some of those extra options.

I have been told to avoid white shirts at all costs, but I think it looks alright, and serves as the best (and clearest) option for integrating design and shirt color.

Personally, I like the original piece on Sand or Silver Grey, but whatever works. Let me know, the ore feedback the better!

Generally I like silver, but I prefer this on that dark, almost black colour you just posted.
The design is fantastic and, as a big horse-lover, I would buy it in an instant. Plus, the little zebra is adorable.
5$ of course.

just an idea but...
what if the white horse was a unicorn so then you had three different horses
Mesenchyme
Mesenchyme on Nov 20 '07
Haha, squidspawn, a few people in critiques said the same thing, so maybe I didn't make it totally clear, but the concept isn't just 'three horsies,' it's [Black Horse + White Horse = Baby Zebra], so hopefully this clears it up. I was trying to be somewhat subtle, but not too subtle! Anyway, thanks for all the responses so far, and let me know if there are any color variations you'd like to see posted!

Great Idea and I think it benefits from being on the charcoal grey. I would be tempted if it was printed on a darker tee!

Tortuga on Nov 21 '07
i like it on the grey much better, and someone mention a pale blue - that might be nice. I could see it going on something a little more vibrant, but maybe that's cause i love colour so much.

Either way, gorgeous work and lovely concept.

its good but if you want a good comment: the horses are pretty animated (it might just look like it because of the "spots" on them) but the zebra is totally realistic. so they don't really seem to fit together. but good job: i like it

1st of all, madelinealbright is SO right. I wish more people avoided massive ink blobs. They just don't wear as nice.

2nd: sorry, I don't like the design that much. It's drawn well, and with good composition, but it's not interesting. Besides, I *really* wouldn't walk around saying black + white = another species.
Mesenchyme
Mesenchyme on Nov 25 '07
Well, pylms, I certainly hope others don't share your apparent pessimistic and/or racial interpretation of the design. As far as the 'blob of ink,' I did make efforts to counter this ungraceful effect by using gray and white shirt alternatives (check the commentary). Still, all feedback is welcome, so thanks for taking the time!

squatterjohn
squatterjohn on Nov 26 '07
Yeah, if you made the shirt one of the ink colours, there's not too many options. They'd probably put it on natural or heather grey, and that would mess up the look of the picture. And the colours might be diffrent for boys and girls making the design look different. It's better as is. Maybe they could print with a softer ink now?
Mesenchyme
Mesenchyme on Nov 26 '07
Yeah, squatterjohn I was thinking the same thing. I mean, it's not like it's a big tacky heat press, right? I think the whole 'ink issue' a few have raised is taken care of by either softer ink, a smaller print, or an integrated shirt color if absolutely necessary. Anyway, last day, thanks again everyone!

FVG on Nov 26 '07
Well, I think this is a beatifully stylized design and I have much respect for the way you drew and shaded the animals.

I think the pale blue shirt color makes it stand out most, giving it that little extra class it deserves.

Nice One!
