Fantastic idea.
Visually, I think it needs some refining, though. I'd start with the color palette. It also kind of looks like it was drawn at 200% zoom-- I dunno if that makes sense; I think it has to do with the fact that there's a lot of detail at the small scale and less at the large scale.

I think if you re-vamped this well enough, it could win. I'd peg your odds of winning at 5% as it stands, and 50% (or maybe more) with a thorough work-over.
