About the design

The swirls coming from the gramophone are embroidery. This design is probably a result of listening to too much Decemberists. Thanks for voting!

I love the idea--I got it right away.

However, I suggest you spend more time on his clothing, which is incorrect for the 1880's. A stylish young man like John Cusak wouldn't have gone out without a waistcoat (vest), a frock coat (same length as you have now, but waisted and much less schlumpy in cut), and full-length trousers (knee-length breeches like you have now were only worn for sports like riding or hunting).

Visit this site for specifics and lots of pictures for inspiration:

Sorry to be so picky. I would absolutely buy this shirt if my background in costuming and fashion history didn't get in the way. Being more accurate about the period details will make your title even funnier, though!

oh, in case anyone is wondering, no clipart is involved, everything is 100 percent hand drawn and then taken into Illustrator. Thanks for voting and for all your comments! Goldenanteater, i used an old sears catalog (1895 i think) for clothing reference, and this was a common outfit for cycling.
