Some blotches on the koi would be cool, even if just in blue tones. Although orange and black would definitely stand out.

there are a lot of 'coi' submissions on Threadless, it's not as bad as the love cliches, but still a lot out there... it must be designer's generally fascination with japanese culture and design...
with that said, I do like your design, very balanced, well drawn...i like monochromatic so I wouldn't say you need anymore colors...5 |

FRICKINAWESOME on Nov 07 '07 I adore koi and have been looking for some unique designs i can finally wear on my being, and this is one of the tip top ones. Love the hidden splash koi, and maybe the only thing i'd like the see would either be a few bits of orange or what have you of small koi in the water between them, or maybe the sun as it rising now has some of its sunshine glint off the bottom of the water koi to give it a hint of orange and it's true colors. Still, great work as is. 4$

to littlem: NO, NO, NO! if i see yet ANOTHER koi fish that is red, orange, yellow, black, etc.... One of the biggest cliches of our generation right behind the tribal tattoo. I like the blue monochromatic approach. It sets this koi design WELL above the rest by doing so. I especially like the hokusai-esque finger waves that bring it all together. I do agree with a bit of a pattern on the fish. but NO traditional koi colors. definite $5. one of the few i say that about, but i'd for real buy this one.
