This is a really cool Idea and I like the design. Only thing I would change is position. Maybe a closer to the bottom of the shirt.

I agree this would be amazing with some more wreckage on fire to contrast the happiness of the foreground and some of the survivors already in the water holding balloons.

Very nice, I agree that it should be lower and all the flames would be great, but what i would add to it so that it's not too horizontal is maybe the tail of the plane or a wing sticking straight up sinking into the water.
