About my design
by IvanStu
I always thought a turducken needed a little something more...

(Thanks to those who worked with me through the critiques!)

Cool idea! Im not sure if Id wear the design, but the flash is great!! I wish you do that with EVERY submission.

if i could, i would get mine in black except with a band of Ash, Banana, Orange Poppy, and Sagestone across the bottom. like the way it looks if you roll over all the colors really fast.

I went to read the crits just to understand why did you submit this design. It appears that people are more crazy about the animation (what is really cool) than the design. I am sorry to say but without flash the image is rather dull and it needs a lot of work. The idea is good but putting one bird inside another is not necessarily the right way to go. The tittle suggest more fun than the design.

it's pretty clear that the humour is lost on wetpet. i am pretty certain this would be delicious with some gravy and a side of mash. good design... cheers!

I think the simplicity of the design is what makes it awesome. What do you suggest when you say "needs a lot of work"? "A Turducken is a de-boned turkey stuffed with a de-boned duck, which itself is stuffed with a small de-boned chicken." Plus a canary. HILARIOUS!

Good idea. Love the design (might be a little better with detail) and great flash skillz.

$5 - I'd definitely get one! This shirt is really stylish and a clever conversation piece. I want to wear it to Thanksgiving. My family needs edumacated about the Turducken . Or in this case, the Turduckenary !

And the beauty is in the simplicity. It doesn't lack detail, it would just seem cluttered. Great asymmetrical design.

i really like how the design is simple and clean, and is a nice play on a largely unknown dish

P.S. looks awesome in sagestone

wow cool. though Turducken is something i have serious issues with....as it is MEAT, or more importantly, animal flesh, something i definitely have no interest in eating.......but i really dig the shirt nonetheless. If i WAS going to eat Turducken, this shirt would be just what i'd want to wear for Thanksgiving.....

staticmonkey: Thanks! I haven't seen the previous one, but I think mine's better too! ;)

Thanks for all of you who've supported this so far, it means a lot to me!

I went through more elaborate designs both in and out of the critique area and I think the silhouette just works better for this design. Nice and simple.

I'd buy it if it were just a turducken.

I got the joke right off before I looked at the title, and it made me lol (grats, hardly anything does). I think the sagestone does the best job showing off the silhouettes and making the canary pop. Black next. 5 from me.

Matt Duckett, Brighton University graduate did this piece in the Hand To Eye book. The only difference is you've flipped every other animal.

Seriously, with a canary in the middle? Dang! Great minds think alike!

... 10 minutes later ...

Ok, I found it, I think:

Is this it?

I hadn't seen the silhouette-in-a-silhouette thing before, but ever since I did this piece, one other person mentioned that they'd seen ones of a similar style. An Australian friend found a car "top-of-the-food-chain" ad with the same style.

Anyway, thanks for letting me know. I thought I was being original, but maybe there really isn't anything new under the sun. ;)

(Though I think my simple "gotcha" works for a Threadless Tee... Maybe Threadless will too. After all, they have printed shirts with lower scores. :) )
