this a very old/overused idea

I kinda like this one as monochrome.

I was wondering if the product number corresponded to anything in particular... actually, if one wanted to make an extremely subtle cultural commentary, it could be developed using a book bar code pattern using the ISBN-13 of whatever book supported your point... the 13 digits would conceptually correspond to the US flag stripe pattern... and the 978-prefix would be the hint to others that perhaps the T-shirt was making that subtle commentary... for example: 978-0887403330 is a kinda funny delayed punchline.

In reality i wanted to put the 11/09/2001 date in the code but I thought that it could be too personal for some people..

For those of you who have seen the similar tshirt, well this is the right version..

what does a barcode have to do with 9/11?

Put a little color on it, and I'd buy it!

lol @ 'right version'

mescalina, here in the us, we put the month/day/year.

i'm so confused as to what the point of this is that i'll probably just forget about it in a second.

Like shirt said, this idea has been done. If I remember Tom Burns did this idea, and better.

courtney pie on Oct 16 '07 what does a barcode have to do with 9/11?

That after that day the US had a great 'excuse' to control people..

ahhh, so that's the connection. i think i get it now, masculina.

in which case, the tom burns example is 'better' because it conveys the message much clearer.

this could be construed that the us is a consumer-hungry nation.

it coud mean that the us wants to barcode their 'people' to control them. or it could mean that all the american people are commodities waiting. or it could mean that the us itself is a commodity.

ambiguity is interesting but drowns most inflated pieces of art.

I like this better than the one linked above.

I don't think the flickr link is better than this one. It took me a moment to figure out exactly how that one was a bar code.

This says to me that America is totally and utterly out of control, capitalistically speaking...

I like this better than the flickr design. Flat with barcode. The words obey are unnecessary. Just because a concept has been tried elsewhere does not mean it is unworthy of repetition... precisely because it is such an interesting, eyebrow raising idea... it's worthy of reinterpretation. Give the same title to 10 artists to work from and you'll have 10 different pieces of art.

I like the idea a lot. I understand why you didn't put 9/11 in the code but I think it would have been cool. And please don't use any colors! I like it just the way it is. Maybe a different t-shirt color but the rest is very nice. And by the way.. I don't care for the flicker image either. Good job, I'd buy it.

I think it's fan-freakin-tastic.

I'm not so keen on the mustard-colored shirt, though.

I get it. I got it right away. And I think a lot of other people will, too. I love it, except that it's on yellow.
