I think you should make the thumb like a communist dictator or something and have the rest of the fingers be oppressed. otherwise nice idea.

I would have just had the thumb up with the rest of the fingers tucked in. Also, the thumb could be portrayed as a king or something, but the judge is cool too. 4

The phrase 'rule of thumb' comes from an old English common law rule that said a husband could not beat his wife with a stick with a greater diameter than someone's thumb. Not a cool phrase, though no ones its origin so people don't mean bad things when they say it.

The judge is more accurate as the Rule of Thumb was part of the Common Law (also called Judge made law). Now we just call it Assault. Rather cute though. I'd totally wear it.
