I've been seeing a lot of surfing designs lately by people who don't surf. Just to help you out, the surfer should be on the face of the wave or in the barrel, not on the crest. The only time a surfer would be on that part of the wave would be momentarily to do a floater and that would take a much more advanced illustration technique to portray.
