This just needs a little more "energy" to put this over the top -- I can't think of anything in particular (the lead singer down on his knees a la James Brown with a killer horn section either played by other eskimos or arctic animals, perhaps?), but I would look at actual photos from Motown and early Stax concerts.

WanderingBert on Sep 24 '07 fouchnickens- I think you're probably right. This design was giving me a bit of grief so I decided to sub as is. I may think about doing a resub in the future if I need to.

Too bad eskimo is a pejorative word, it's Inuit these days. Ignoring the offensive nature, it's a cute design.

Like everybody else has been saying... GREAT idea, not sure about the execution. The lead singer doesn't look that soulful, and the back-up singers look like hula dancers. Make it more obvious that it's motown and I'll buy it.

Tina Turner would make the perfect backup singer stances -- tres sexy as they say in french! When I first saw the title of your submission, I thought it was a tie-in to Matthew Henson, the first black person to go to the Arctic (he also "left some family behind" on his trip with Peary, thus the immediate connection of EskiMotown). |
