How pathetic, political correctness has gone to stupid extremes. Damn good tee, great illustration and interpretation. Best one I've seen so far.

Its the stereotype of black men abandoning their families - whether the designer meant it or not, thats what most people will see.

if by "abandoning" you mean "dying", I suppose you're right. I mean - dude's got a halo - he's obviously dead.

This is by far the weirdest concept ive ever seen on threadless.
You know what, i'd buy it because I can't stop laughing at it.
I feel a bit bad for laughing at a fatherless child.
Good illustration.

This made me laugh -- Not too sure about this design on a shirt though. It's original I'll give ya that.

"black men abandoning their families...thats what most people will see." I didn't see anything of the sort.

Very interesting and uncomfortable concept. I love the colors and artwork on the shirt though.

I am not uncomfortable by it because it is black people. Jesus Christ, I didn't think it would be take that way. I am uncomfortable by the concept. A kid's dad DIES, and he goes to a wishing well, and the dad comes back? One. that is creepy. Two. Why would I where that on a shirt? To make other peoeple uncomfortable about the concept of death? Sweet. Maybe I will buy it then.

did i wake up in a different time period?

you wanna talk about making people uncomfortable with death, let's tell them that an ivisible, judging, ruthless "GOD" will decide if you get to burn in hell or sing with angels. stfu

I feel that relating a modern day staple of grocery store entrances to the classic wishing well - in as much as identifiery with todays generation of understanding - to where paralleling the hopes and wishes of yesteryear with today - juxtaposing that which was a fruitless, superstitious but powerful tradition of payment to the depths for hopes fulfilled - with the modern equivalent of stuffed spongebobs and eight ball keychains the achievable glory that awaits those willing to smooth out a dollar bill and roll the dice.

the only thing I would add would be glass shattering in all directions as dead dad breaks free from his crane game afterlife and rewards his son's hand eye co-ordination with his awaiting embrace

Nice interpretation. I don't think he should be breaking free...maybe it should be unknown if he actually gets his dad back.

I really like this design. Very clever.

i'm pretty sure the dad looks happy to see his kid therefore wouldnt abandon him, and i'm sure its an implied by the halo that he's dead and coming back to life.

how is it racist? i'm pretty sure i'm gonna die irregardless of my race.

Definately needs to be clearer - though I love the concept.

Somehow, the message is missed until the discussion starts, and too many discussers seem to have missed the point to make me comfortable wearing it.

i think the designer only want to express his lost regarding his father (maybe), without ever thinking "will it be good enough for people to wear?" "will people think this as racist?"..mmmm i dont think so...
but its a great design... pure, and original!

Ha..ha...ha..ha..ha...
it is so funny how you all debating it...
I think you all doesn`t need my statement at all...
it is better to keep it that way and make everyone have their own opinion...
oh..yeah..and i`m not very familiar with the concept of racist, for I live in a country where racist doesnt occured to black people only...

"Its the stereotype of black men abandoning their families - whether the designer meant it or not, thats what most people will see."

I'm pretty sure most people don't see it like that. But thanks for assuming that the stereotype of non-blacks includes people who think black men abandon their families.

As for the shirt itself, the concept is a little serious - kind of sad. This poor kid just wants his dad to not be dead. As someone who's father died when she was 12, I just can't imagine wearing a shirt like that - no matter how touching it might be.

I'm also a little concerned about the idea that (even though it's a wishing well) his father is still being pulled up out of the ground. Despite the halo, it still implies he certainly wasn't residing in heaven.

As for their race - color shouldn't be an issue; as far as I'm concerned, that part has been way over analyzed here.
