I like it a lot but the hand just bothers me. It seems out of place and I don't get it. If the hand weren't there I would buy this shirt in a second.

kennnnnnnnnn on Sep 13 '07 ok well i originally had some drops of blood falling from the hand, but i took that out last minute as it was possibly a bit too gory. though i can totally add the little drips back no problem to make it a bit more coherent.

Yeah the severed hand seems forced into the design. I could live without it. Doesn't seem like you are going to budge on that point though. Maybe if it was the same illustrative style, the fact that it stylistically doesn't match anything else in the piece is also kinda strange.

is he eating the hand? that would make more sense, I didn't quite understand it before I read your blood drops comment. I love the owl and all the other goodies. I don't hate the hand, I just didn't get it.

since the hand goes right to the part of the owl where all those lines are, it gives the illusion that the hand is pushing into the owl.
without the hand, it looks mostly like a copy of hiroshige with few other redeeming qualities. meh. |
