Hi, i'm pleased to sub my first sort of "community design", meaning that i used the Critique section, for the first time. I want to thank all the ones who came there trying to help me improve the design.



So, i hope people will enjoy and understand my concept here...



PS: I'm sure people will ask me about those letters W.Y. :)

for those who don't know the Alien quadrilogy, that only means a random invented Oil company...but if you dig, it's also the letters for "Weyland-Yutani" aka The company in ALien.

From wikipedia: "Weyland-Yutani is consistently portrayed as exhibiting the worst aspects of corporate profiteering, and as being willing to sacrifice decency and human life in the pursuit of profit."

you know...i'm not sure the design works for me completely, but Aliens is my #1 favorite movie of all time, and Alien is my #7 favorite of all time...so I'd have to give a $5 on that alone. Props for Weyland-Yutani. And hell, we're all crew expendable.

I don't get it outside of perhaps some commentary of oil=evil but I don't care. It has a freaking alien on it. I must have. $5

blamethesuburb: the alien is in fact a metaphor, not for oil, but for the exploitation of oil, by industrials, economics and politics. I used the invented company " Weyland Yutani" at this purpose, emphazing the metaphor, because in the movies, as wikipedia says (better than me because my english is not perfet at all): "Weyland-Yutani is consistently portrayed as exhibiting the worst aspects of corporate profiteering, and as being willing to sacrifice decency and human life in the pursuit of profit."

Amazing idea and style to this one...i don't even think it needs the two business men. The main illo stands on its own and needs to be as front and center as possible. Incredible statement without going overoboard Jebs. Great!

doully thank you! To be honest, my previous design finished at 3.11, but i prefer a thousand time this one...maybe the concept was not clear enough, we never know, it's always obvious for the designer, but we are perhaps not ditant enough with our designs :-)

yeah i didnt get it at first... if the alien in the background had been a lighter color, maybe the message would of gotten across

2.54 is really low for this design!

I wonder if some people voted against it merely for political reasons ... :(
