About my design
by .MINUS.
This is my contribution for the Mae competition. I wanted to create something simple yet beautiful, while fully embracing the theme.

It is open to interpretation but essentially the "boy" is enjoying the universe and it is enjoying him back. It begs the question; Are we ever really alone?

The design works on most dark colored shirts. I prefer black, but I think navy, dusk purple, and denim look great too.

The placement can change too. I love the center placing with the stars leading towards the seams in the shoulder.

If the stars in the "girl" constellation and the stars wrapping around the boy could be done in a gold or silver foil OR glow ink, that would be pretty sweet too.

I really hope you like it. Thanks for any comments or feedback. It's all appreciated.

I love that he looks feminine, then it appears even more mysterious. It's really nice on black. $5

I absolutely love it! I think it was genius to create an androgenous look, making the fantasy aspect of the design stand out. I think it was great that you made the brightest star of the constellation the eye. I think this really allows the fantasy to be what it may and that beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. The purple is wicked and the navy is pretty sweet too. I would definitely buy it.

No, something's weird about his/her face (not that it's androgynous, just weirdly drawn).

i like it but think the sitting person should be less centred - the whole design should be centred instead

This is really beautiful. Having the boy look like an elf really drives the blissful-fantasy theme home...especially with the addition of the stars. The constellation being the face of a girl is really nice...you don't notice it on first glance, but once you do it gives the shirt a whole new meaning. I love it! Black and purple are my faves.

Very cool except the boy looks elfish and has a PO'd look on his face. Round off the nose and give him a sweeter look and it will be even prettier!

Thanks for all of the lovely comments. I'm glad that some people really got it. It's too bad that some can't get past the ambiguousness of the character. But that is okay. It is suppossed to be fantastical. I wanted to create a beautiful situation of really just "being". Reflecting, exsisting, appreciating what you do and do not know and loving where you have gotten yourself at one specific moment. Thanks again. I really appreciate any and all feedback.

He looks like Patrick Wolf :]!

Whether he did or not, I love this design. It has the elegence and simplicity I adore for wearing. And it definitely needs to be purple!

the "boy's" eyes, ears and nose are very disturbing to me

I agree, unfortunately. I really think you need to work on the boy's face, as his nose and eyes don't look right on his face. The rest is beautiful.

The boy's features remind me very much of the Peter Pan illustrated in the book I had as a child. Very cool.

Christ, that's a bit special! Would look incredible with sparkly or glow in the dark ink. I like it on black or denim, the intriguing design needs a more muted tee colour, and purple would probably ruin it.
