Ugh, kind of preachy. I don't smoke, but I hate how smokers get shit for making their own decisions.

and "lungs striker" sounds nothing like "lucky strikes"

I quit smoking years ago and anti-smoking ads still make me cringe. Non smokers should chill out and just be glad that they're not ever going to die.

Perhaps get someone whose first language is English to proofread future text designs.

I'm in the same boat as jklarson66, but I think it would be fabulously ironic to see someone wearing one of these "smoking is soooo bad for you" shirts... while smoking.

i want a shirt that just says 'yes, you toasted'
fouchnickens
fouchnickens on Aug 25 '07
1) It should read "Yes, you're toasted" or even better worded "Yes, you're toast"

2) For style purposes, you should use an open quote at the beginning of "Bold, yet surprisingly smooth," rather than a close quote.

3) I'd use a snazzier tag line like "Go ahead, strike it up -- it'll strike you down" or something like that.

I don't know. I wouldn't wear this, and I'd scoff if I saw someone with it on. Smokers are already not allowed to smoke basically anywhere, and if they want to do something potentially dangerous, its their decision. People who eat junk food every day are just as likely to die, and there are tons of things people do every day that are a danger to themselves and others, for some reason people just get really preachy about smoking and its a bit disingenous.

the thing about smoking is that it affects those around you as well...second hand smoke blows goats

try reposting this after someone has proofread this and confirmed that it is proper english, which this is decidedly not.

however, this is a really cool design, and once you give it proper grammar, be it known that I will give it at least a four.

I heavily agree with cancerfrisbee and jklarson, as well as littlelovesong and you others. Smokers know the risks and chances involved with smoking, we as people are not that ignorant anymore, and if they're still choosing to smoke even when the know the consequences, they should be allowed to do so with criticism.

About the actual design, I don't actually care for it. The front/back styling of the message doesn't seem very Threadless to me, and I'm not familiar with Lucky Strike packaging but it's not aesthetically pleasing imho.

well, designed, but where a simple "Lungs on Strike" would be funny, this is just too overblown to be worn by anybody who's not an activist of some kind.

Well I kind of like it. It does need a little finishing with the grammar and all that but I like the look of it. Definitely a little risky with the cancer bit, but I like it.

I'm pretty good at English, and I have no clue what your message reads:

LUNGS STRIKER YES YOU TOASTED IT'S A MATTER OF UNLUCK.

(Unluck, incidently, sounds like a newspeak word from 1984)

If you're going to have an anti-smoking stance, better to make it witty rather than high and mighty :-)

It looks good but it doesn't make much sense. I agree with those that say get the language checked out beforehand.
