I like the backround, but I think her face needs some work. Beautiful colours.

Thanks everyone for the comments! If only I'd seen your comments in the critiques forum, I would have gladly made changes to the figure to make it better...hopefully enough people like this, though. I did stylize her on purpose to better illustrate the character from Shakespeare, though.

I love her awkward breasts. I just don't think she's wearing a bra is all. She's goin' au naturale.

Her oversized eyes and hair are beautiful.

The background coming through the frame into the

foreground is an interesting touch.

Is the design showing us the moment before Ophelia's

death by drowning ?

Is the frame working as a symbol of death ?

Queen Gertrude in Hamlet said Ophelia climbed into a willow

tree, and then a branch broke and dropped Ophelia into the

brook, where she drowned. Later in the play two characters

mention they believe Ophelia committed suicide, and they

both say they don't have any evidence to support their belief. Is your design suggesting that Ophelia didn't fall with that

branch and willingly walked into the brook to drown herself ?

i really really like this! it is such a beautiful illustration, and the kind of submission which has caused me to pause in scoring for at least 15 minutes now, while i read on-line about Ophelia and Hamlet (it's been so long since i read it in high school...)

i wanted to refresh my memory on the character before scoring this, now i am really set on giving it $5!

i like helo's comments and questions also

i like the look on her face, it is very interpretive and fitting to the scene you are depicting

this is a really quality submission, lovely style, thanks!

Hey there, thanks again everyone for the wonderful comments, it's much appreciated. To respond to helo, I was indeed suggesting that this is the moment before she commits suicide. I tried to show that her innocence and sincerity were her tragic flaws ; she genuinely loved both Hamlet and her father, and both men took advantage of that trust and used her as a pawn. This broke her heart, drove her to madness and ultimately suicide. That's why I stylized her eyes and gave her a white dress and flowers, etc ; to imply her innocence and foreshadow her tragic death.

Sorry about how long winded that was, I do try not to be wordy, heh...

I love her tragic, heartbroken face. I think she's lovely. And I have to give props to the literary reference in fashion.

It's very interesting and pleasing to the eye. 8)

I just think that the idea of her coming out of a portrait should be more well-defined.

Because, unless you look at the bottom frame of the portrait outline, it seems like she's coming through a door.

Perhaps this is a little too nit-picky,

but shouldn't a shirt be recognized at first glance? ;)
