No they aren't plungers !!! they are the darts you shoot out of a cheap toy pistol ! back before nerf guns were controlling that type of market ! have like 4 of those guns !!! unfortunatly no ammo lol.

I don't think the plane needs to be transparent to get the gag. I love the simple line style, though.
