i knew from the minute that threadless announced the GMail competition that there would be like a million connect four themed shirts. this just happens to be #1000001. Not to call you out, but it is just something that everyone was going to do.

i like this one better than the others, though...

yeah, repeats happen. i'm a designer and the first thing we learned in design school is that everything has already been done before... like a million times over... so all you can do is try to do it in your own style. i like the cubicle version as a concept - much more creative than mine, but graphically i would never wear something like that.

I'm curious why you didn't go with the yellow of the game for the shirt

i thought about it, but i liked the idea of implying the holes with the yellow. it could be done, though.

I'm curious as to why i am so conviced that i would absolutely buy this. It looks great as a shirt.

The only thing i hate more than people doing a repeat concept is people giving the excuse that everything has been done before so it doesn't matter. Everything hasn't been done before! Just look at 300 submissions here and you will see nearly completely original new ideas! lol.



Having said that, it's no big deal how many connect four shirts there were. I like the brown shirt for this design, but it just doesn't add anything to the concept that hasn't already been done....without knowing this contest, people might not even pick up on the fact that the weirdly placed black and red circles on your tee are referencing connect four....but it's still not a bad attempt at the contest. good luck.

to each their own - many things here may be original, but they look reminiscent of something else. i wouldn't call anything here absolutely unique, but you're entitled to your opinion. being immersed in the design industry, i can absolutely tell you that everything has been done in some form or another, so who cares? just have fun, which is the premise of this site, right?



i just wanted this design to be quick and fun - i in no way think that this idea is the most amazing thing to ever exist - it was just QUICK and FUN. it's not the most elaborate or creative shirt on this site - i acknowledge that. it's simple and cheeky, and i think it's aesthetically nice BECAUSE it's simple and not over-designed. the fun part is that you don't catch immediately that it's connect four - it takes a minute to figure it out. it's an easy visual puzzle to solve.



if you love it, great, if you hate it, great - everyone is entitled to their opinions. it's just a t-shirt design, i'm not saving lives here.
