I'm sorry, but the text spoils the design for me. If it was integrated into the design more, It might have been more successful. Just slapping a line of text on something like this feels awkward...

OK, ok, but check this:
trying an experiment -- take the basic, what's-normally considered-bad-design-font-usage, and see if the rest of the image MAKES it work. Is it really bad design, does it really look that bad, or is it something we are merely taught by instructors who have bought into a particular design sensibility, what they were taught (the argument "this has been taught over the years for a reason" doesn't fly here) ? Remember the thing about breaking the rules? |

...but then again maybe that's a lame excuse for a bad choice and I-wished-I-hand-lettered-the-thing-after-the-fact is starting to set in...
